DIE WAHRHEIT ÜBER HUNDEDIEBSTÄHLE 2025 - UND WIE DU DEINEN HUND WIRKLICH SCHÜTZT

“Dogs are not allowed.”

That was written on a small sign at a kiosk.
And I still remember standing there – with Homie by my side – hesitating for a moment.

Just tying him up outside and going in?
For many people, that’s completely normal. For me, it never was.

That feeling you can’t ignore

Maybe you know this feeling too:
That moment when you’d have to leave your dog outside for a minute –
and it just doesn’t feel right.

Not necessarily logical.
But still very clear.

That’s exactly how I felt.

Because I knew the stories

Over the past few years, I kept coming across stories
about dogs being stolen.

Not somewhere far away – but here, in cities like ours.
In broad daylight, often in exactly these short moments.

And yes, it often affects dogs that are easy to take.
Small, popular, quick to grab.

The thought immediately hit me:
What if that happened to Homie?

Then came the trip

Shortly after, I planned a trip – just me and Homie.
And suddenly, the whole topic became even more real.

Because no matter how well you prepare:
There are always situations where you have to step inside somewhere briefly.

A quick stop at a bakery.
Grabbing something to drink for the journey.
Picking up a ticket at the counter.
A moment you simply can’t avoid.

These completely normal moments that happen all the time when traveling –
but feel very different when you have a dog with you.

And that’s when the same question came up again:

How can I handle this in a way that actually feels right?

I looked for a solution – but couldn’t find one

I really took the time to look at what was already out there.

But nothing truly convinced me.

Many leashes can be opened quickly.
Others can be cut easily.
And a lot of it just didn’t feel like it would make a real difference in everyday life.

In the end, I was left with the same feeling:
I still wouldn’t feel comfortable.

So I started creating my own solution

Not with the idea of turning it into a product.
Just because I needed an answer for myself.

I tested materials, combined them, started over.
Paracord.
Steel cable.
Different locking systems.

Step by step, something came together
that finally felt thought through.

The first version changed my everyday life

What was originally meant just for that trip
quickly became part of my daily routine.

I could stop somewhere briefly, run an errand, react spontaneously –
without that constant feeling in the back of my mind.

Not because everything was suddenly “perfectly safe.”
But because I knew:
I had a solution that was actually designed with real situations in mind.

And then came the question: why not for others?

The more I worked on it,
the more I realized how much this topic mattered to me.

And at some point, the question came naturally:

If this makes such a difference for me –
why not for others too?

The first steps

I listed my first leashes on Etsy.
Without big expectations.

What happened next honestly surprised me.

Messages started coming in from people
who described exactly the same feeling.

That uncertainty.
Those everyday situations.
That need for more protection.

That’s how HUNDUM SICHER was born

What started with a few orders slowly grew.
First Etsy, then Amazon, then our own online shop.

And for a long time, everything was truly handmade.
I made every single order myself –
knotting, adjusting, packaging.

That was important to me.
Because I knew what stood behind every product.

The next step – without losing what matters

Over time, it became clear:
I wanted to create a solution that more people could easily access.

That’s how DOGGYGUARD® was developed –
our first adjustable leash.

At the same time, it was also the point where I needed support.

But one thing was clear from the beginning:
It had to stay close
It had to stay handmade
It had to feel right

That’s why DOGGYGUARD® is now produced in collaboration with a social project for women.

This way, we can maintain the quality and character of the products –
while taking the next step forward.

What has never changed

The idea behind it is still the same:

Protect dogs
and make everyday life easier for their humans

Not exaggerated.
Not based on unrealistic promises.

But in a way that feels right in real life.

If you know this feeling

Then you probably already understand
why this leash exists.
